Military Families
At Freeport High School, we are dedicated to honoring and supporting the unique needs of our military-connected students and their families. We strive to create an inclusive and nurturing environment that promotes academic success, emotional well-being, and smooth transitions for students who face the challenges of frequent relocations and family deployments.
Through dedicated resources, staff training, and community partnerships, we ensure that our military students feel valued, supported, and empowered to thrive both academically and personally. We are committed to fostering resilience, building a strong sense of belonging, and providing the tools necessary for lifelong success.
In April 2024, Freeport High School participated in a city-wide Purple Up! for Military Kids Day, hosted by Freeport Elementary School. Freeport Mayor Russ Barley read a City Proclamation, which states that April 19, 2024, is Military Child Day in the City of Freeport. Pictured from left to right are FHS military children Addison Dunn, AbbieLynn Sayas, Mayor Russ Barley, Niamh Barthel, and Maggie Mann.
Freeport High School honored military children by creating a Military Families wall last April and May. This wall honored staff members and students by posting the military parent's credentials and a photo of the child and parent. By the end of May, the wall was full of our military families.
