Math Department

April Adams

April Adams is a 2000 graduate of Mississippi State University in Starkville, Mississippi. She earned a bachelors of science degree in Secondary Mathematics.  This is her 19th year as an educator and she teaches Algebra 2 Honors, Financial Algebra, and Math for College Readiness. Mrs. Adams is married to a cattle farmer and has three children. She enjoys spending time with her family, attending church, singing in the choir, and reading.

Gary Driver

Gary Driver has worked in education for over 38 years teaching at the secondary and post secondary levels. He has a BS from Samford University in math, MS in Math Ed from Samford University, an Ed specialist in Math from Troy University and an Ed Leadership from Alabama State University.

Leslie Lisenbee

Leslie Lisenbee graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. After one year in elementary school she discovered her passion for teaching math and received her math certification in 2010. She has been teaching all levels of high school math since. She received her Master’s in Educational Leadership in 2019. This year she is teaching Geometry and is the Senior Class Sponsor.

Social Sciences Department

Vanessa Bump

Vanessa Bump has earned a B.S. from Florida State University in Criminology/Psychology and a M.Ed. from Florida State University in Social Science Education. She is a 28-year veteran social studies teacher and has taught in both Escambia and Walton Counties. She teaches AP Psychology, AP Human Geography and AP Seminar in the Capstone Diploma program and is the AP Department Head at Freeport High School. In addition, she serves as a Table Leader at the AP Reading in Cincinnati each summer. Mrs. Bump is married to fellow educator Dan Bump (ECMS). Together they have a growing family of 7; son Jared and his wife Geness and daughter Blake and daughter Allysa and her fiancé Jared. Mrs. Bump was Walton High School Teacher of the year in 2004 and South Walton and Walton County Teacher of the Year in 2012.

Terry Baker

Terry Baker was in full time ministry, in domestic and foreign settings, before becoming a full time educator in 1998. Terry worked with inner city youth programs in Scotland. India, California, Rhode Island, Texas, and on Native American Reservations in Arizona. Graduating from Abilene Christian University, he earned his credentials in Forth Worth, Tx and taught in the DFW area until  2012. Terry relocated to Rancho Cordova, California to care for his parents and taught at Aldar Academy and Cordova High School until 12/2020. He relocated to Freeport to be near his son’s family in Santa Rosa Beach. He is also a professional muralist and designer.

Amy Baker

Amy Lynn Baker is from Madison, Alabama and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Auburn University, Upon graduating, she traveled the United States doing environmental work in the oil industry in the Northwest region of the United States. She became a teacher in 2003 so she can inspire the love of Science to all of her students.

Mike Myrick

Mike Myrick graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelors of Science degree in Athletic Administration and Coaching and a minor in General Science. He taught and coached in Louisiana for 2 years and in Mississippi for 3 years, holding a 1990 football state championship title from Stringer High School. Freeport has been his home for over 25 years and he is the proud coach of the 2015 State Champion Lady Bulldogs girls basketball team.

Bruce Bates

Bruce Bates is a Class of 2006 Alumni of Freeport High School. He is a first-generation college student, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a Minor in Chemistry from Florida State University in 2010, and a Master of Science in Environmental and Biological Sciences from Troy University in 2015. Mr. Bates held numerous occupations in the field of Environmental Science before shifting to education in 2014, including ecological monitoring and wildland firefighting. He currently teaches all levels of environmental science at FHS and is an adjunct professor at NWFSC. In his spare time, Mr. Bates enjoys fishing, hunting, and spending time with his wife and daughter.

Julia Terrell

Ms. Terrell earned a Master of Science in Limnology from the University of Florida and has sampled Florida's aquatic resources for over 20 years. She returned to the Panhandle of Florida in 2006 to work at Northwest Florida State College where she began teaching Environmental Science and General Biology. She is also an advisory committee member for the Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance. She began working at the Walton County School District in 2018 and is currently teaching Marine Science, Agriscience Foundations, and Anatomy & Physiology Honors.

Jaime Wassman

As a graduate of UWF,  Jaime Wassman started her career in education working as the Director of Education at Sylvan Learning Center in New Orleans. Taking her knowledge of the gaps that she saw in students, from there, she entered the classroom. She is currently entering my 19th year in education. She has taught everything from 4th-12th grade and a year in 2nd. She works hard to extend her love and passion for ELA to her students and truly enjoy having great discussions about literature and how it connects to our lives today.

Tracy Boothe

Tracy Boothe was a first generation college student along with her brother. Both siblings achieved Master's degrees through hard work and determination. Tracy received her Master's from the University of Alabama in 2003. She has been a teacher in Walton County School District since 2006. She enjoys assisting her Freeport High School juniors in winning all the BONES spirit events and planning the prom.

Russell Phillips

Russell Phillips is a Freeport High School alumni. He was a first generation college student and received a bachelors degree in Editing, Writing, and Media from Florida State University. As of 2019, he is currently in his 4th year teaching for Walton county schools and will begin pursuing his masters degree in Educational Leadership during this school year.

Kimberly Miller

Ann Lewis

Ann Lewis has a Masters in the Art of Teaching in English Education grades 6-12 from Georgia State University and an Bachelors in English from the University of Georgia. She is in her 10th year of teaching. She is AP Literature, AP Language and AICE General Paper certified and trained.

Before becoming a high school teacher, she taught English as a second language to adults in Argentina, South Africa and the US. Not only is she TESOL/TEFL certified, but she has also been an instructor in TESL/TEFL courses certifying teachers to go overseas. 

Within her years of experience, Ann has also worked as a Marketing Director for a publications firm in South Africa and a copy editor for a daily newspaper there. Indeed, she brings her myriad experience to demonstrate the value of effective communication no matter what career path a person has.

Carla Griffith-Spanish

Carla Griffith attended SUNY @ Oneonta in New York, The University of Seville, Spain, and is a 1986 graduate of the University of West Florida. She earned a bachelor of arts in Spanish education. 2019 marks her 34th year as an educator, 32 of those as a Freeport Bulldog! She teaches Spanish 2-4 and sponsors the Academic team, Anchor club, and SWAT. Mrs. Griffith is married to a retired firefighter and has 3 children. She enjoys spending time with her family, gardening and crafting. Go Bulldogs!

Carla Hunt-American Sign Language

Carla Hunt teaches American Sign Language. She graduated from UAB with a degree in Elementary Education and Special Ed. She also graduated from Indiana University with a master’s degree in Library Science. She is currently working on her certification in ASL. She looks forward to meeting and helping the students of Freeport High School.

Amy Rasz

Amy Rasz is a Freeport High School class of 1995 alumnus. She obtained a bachelor’s in Social Work from the University of West Florida in 2001, and Master’s in Clinical Social Work from Florida State University in 2019. She began teaching in Walton County in 2013 and has worked in elementary, special education, and mental health.  Mrs. Rasz is certified in the areas of Art, K-6 elementary, ESE, School Social Work, and has a teaching endorsement in Reading and Autism Spectrum Disorder. She is currently working on her Master’s in Art Education through the Art of Education University.  Mrs. Rasz is excited to be at Freeport High School where she can combine her passion for art and love of teaching.

Ted Missildine

Ted Missildine is a graduate of Lurleen B. Wallace State Junior College and Auburn University at Montgomery. He went on to earn a Masters degree from Alabama State University. He possesses teaching Florida Department of Education teacher certifications in Biology, Engineering and Technology Education, and Social Science.

Shane Williams

Shane Williams is a 2009 graduate of Troy University, where he earned a degree in Criminal Justice. In 2014, he completed the EPI Program at Gulf Coast State College. He began teaching at FHS during the 2015-16 school year. Mr. Williams teaches students in the Criminal Operations Academy along with AP US History. Mr. Williams is also the head baseball coach and an assistant football coach.

Devin Greer

Devin Greer is a Class of 2014 Freeport High School alumna. After graduating from Freeport she attended the University of Mississippi where she graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Hospitality Management and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. After college, she moved home to Walton County and worked in the tourism industry before making the transition to teach at her alma mater. Mrs. Greer is married to her high school sweetheart, Logan and is expecting her first child this fall. In addition to teaching Culinary Arts she also is the head cheerleading coach. Mrs. Greer is excited to back at FHS and looking forward to the years to come. Hotty Toddy!

Michael Miller

Mr. Miller earned a Bachelor of Music Education from Newberry College. He has formerly taught at Clarendon County School District #3 (SC), Barnwell County School District #45 (SC), and Okaloosa County School District (FL). Mr. Miller began teaching in the Walton County School District at Freeport Middle and High Schools in 2005.

Physical Education

David Felix

Coach David Felix joined Freeport High School after retiring from coaching at Troy State University. Felix played college basketball for the Trojans and still ranks among the University's all-time greats in several statistical categories. After graduating from Troy, Felix eventually returned as an assistant basketball coach for the men's program and helped lead them to some of the school's first conference titles and tournament appearances. He continues to share his passion and knowledge of the game by coaching the Freeport Bulldogs boy's basketball team.

Owen Cole

Jason Burnham

Jason Burnham, a Freeport High School class of 1994 alumnus, graduated from the University of West Florida in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He worked in the private sector as an Assistant Project Manager as well as running his own construction company for many years before entering education as a middle school English and History teacher. He came to Freeport High School in 2013 to teach CTE courses and serve as the JV basketball coach and assistant football coach.

Mary Charles

Mary Charles graduated in 2012 from Florida International University with a Bachelors of Public Administration. She is a candidate for a Masters of Science in International Relations at Troy University. 2021 is Mrs. Charles first year at FHS. She is so excited for her multiple roles of Media Specialist and Assistant Girls Basketball Coach.  She has previously worked in the non-profit sector supporting education as an AmeriCorps volunteer and as Education Coordinator for the Emerald Coast Science Center.  Mrs. Charles is a northwest Florida native.  When not reading, she enjoys active sports and spending time outside with her family, particularly in or near the water.

Joyce Harp

Joyce Harp earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Florida. She earned a master's in Educational Psychology from Georgia State University. She is teacher certified in Learning Disabilities, Variable Exceptionalities, Social Science 6-12, Math 5 - 9, and Integrated Middle School. She has been teaching Special Education since 1985.

Mark Meisner

Mark Meisner has lived in Walton County since 2010 when he moved with my wife, Amy and three daughters: Zoe, Sydney, and Layla. He began teaching students with special needs in 2012 and it changed his life forever! He has a Bachelor's Degree in History with a minor in Political Science as well as a Masters Degree in Public Administration. He is certified in ESE K-12, Social Science 6-12, and Elementary Education K-6.
